The GoodFET is an open source JTAG adapter plus universal serial bus (think Bus Pirate, and you're on the right track). Its clever concept is loosely based on TI MSP430 FET UIF and EZ430U boards, and is a delightful variant of the MSP430 FET debugger. As an agile companion, the GoodFET is great for MSP430 fans who want their very own everyday-use JTAG debugger.

This plucky little tiger has expanded to be useful as a microcontroller multitool, with "clients" for driving, programming, and debugging MSP430, Max USB, Chipcon 8051/SPI, JTAG, Chipcon SPI, Nordic RF, AVR, PIC, SPI Flash, and more. The PCB is surprisingly thin, and each GoodFET comes fully assembled - but depending on what you plan to do, you'll likely want to mount some surface parts.
